ARTIST INFORMATION:
Ray Leaning
Ray Leaning was born in Scunthorpe, UK in 1959. As a child he was inspired by books on Pop Art, figure drawing and Victorian Advertising art. Comic book characters were also an influence in his early years.
He started college Grimsby School of Art, which he attended for his Art Foundation and later at Exeter College of Art & Design. He was constantly painting figures for his own work. After he graduated in Fine Art Painting at Exeter College, Ray moved on to Brighton College of Art for a one year post graduate course.
Soon after leaving Brighton College of Art, Ray was a junior designer for the publishers Marshall Cavendish in London. He soon became Art Editor for Marshall Cavendish and later took the position of Art Director for M-Press Publishing also in London.
Ray has collectors for his Fine Art work in many countries including the USA, Canada, Holland, France, Germany, Sweden, Australia and Switzerland. He receives several commissions a year for his figure drawings and paintings, where he is often asked to portray specific people in his particular style of work.
